NMC Mentorship Standards for Nursing and Midwifery
The NMC produced their standards to support learning and assessment in practice in 2006 and updated these in 2008. There are 8 domains within a framework which identifies the requirements for the staff nurse, qualified mentor, practice teacher and NMC approved teacher in enhancing learning in practice. Information regarding annual updating, triennial review and the role of the Sign-off mentor is included in the document that can be found below.
Designed around the ‘Standard to support learning and assessment in practice’ as outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in 2008, this course will equip you with the advanced knowledge and practical skills to enhance your mentoring practice
You will find three podcasts below which explain the nature of the domain in more detail and encourage the listener to stop and reflect on their role in supporting students. These podcasts are particularly useful to those on the mentorship programme and also to support the triennial review process.
